Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to evacuate
- Recognise alarm or other signs of incident
- Determine nature and location of incident, wind direction and other relevant information
- Assess incident situation and instigate relevant procedure
- Predict probable changes/escalation to incident
- Prepare the area and personnel for evacuation
- Facilitate incident roles and the operation of incident response stations according to procedures
- Coordinate incident response actions according to procedures
- Maintain communication channels with relevant personnel
- Control evacuation
- Identify hazards associated with evacuation
- Identify and communicate most appropriate path for evacuation to the desired muster point
- Implement relevant hazard control procedures
- Initiate evacuation when appropriate
- Ensure evacuation of mobility/sensory-impaired people
- Control incident evacuation according to procedures
- Undertake roll call of evacuated persons
- Communicate required details of evacuation to relevant personnel.
- Complete evacuation.
- Arrange and coordinate the first aid, welfare and other needs of evacuated persons
- Maintain control over evacuees
- Arrange for/provide assistance to the incident controller as required
- Maintain communication channels with relevant personnel
- Move evacuees to a new location, or dismiss and return to work as appropriate
- Debrief evacuees and seek possible improvements
- Complete all required records and reporting
- Arrange for suggested improvements to be incorporated into procedures as appropriate
